EPIEN Medical Releases ORALMEDIC® Barrier Solution Over The Counter in Canada

Minnetonka, MN–EPIEN Medical, Inc., (“EPIEN”) announced today that it has commenced OTC distribution of its new oral ulcer treatment product, ORALMEDIC® Barrier Solution, in Canada. Product distribution will be handled by a partnership between Axel Kraft and Corum Marketing of Toronto. Initially, ORALMEDIC® will be available in selected Rexall Pharma Plus pharmacies and A&P and Dominion stores during the second week of November 2006.

ORALMEDIC® Barrier Solution is the only OTC product available in the world that immediately and permanently ends oral ulcer pain with one ten-second treatment. Canada joins the U.K. as the first countries offering the product to their consumers. Approval to release the product in the United States is currently pending FDA regulatory review.

Commenting on the need for such a product in the market place Steve Corrick, President of Corum Marketing, noted “There are no other products like this one and we are pleased to be part of its early distribution with EPIEN.”

EPIEN’s CEO Reginald Dupre stated that “We are excited to follow our spring U.K. release of ORALMEDIC® Barrier Solution with this fall’s release in Canada. We look forward to success with the Axel Kraft/Corum Marketing relationship.”

EPIEN Medical Distributor Galpharm International Limited Adds Boots Group PLC As UK Product Outlet

Minneapolis, Minnesota–EPIEN Medical, Inc., (“EPIEN”) announced today that the company’s United Kingdom distributor Galpharm International Ltd. (“Galpharm”) has signed an agreement with the Boots Group PLC, Nottingham (“Boots”), to carry EPIEN’s HybenX™ Barrier products over the counter in the United Kingdom. The Galpharm contract governs the distribution of Boots’ private-labeled UK brand of oral care products based on EPIEN’s patented HybenX™ technology platform.

The UK OTC distribution, expected to begin early next year, represents the first time that HybenX™ will be available directly to consumers. The product was previously available only through dental and medical professionals. Europe has an incidence of mouth ulcers (canker sores) similar to the US with about 20% of the population, or about 75 million people, suffering from ulcers on a recurrent basis. The global mouth ulcer market is valued at approximately $250 million.

EPIEN’s HybenX™ technology is the only treatment available that provides immediate and long-lasting pain relief with a single application. The product is supplied in an easy-to-use, single-use applicator swab.

Boots Group PLC operates Boots the Chemists, the UK’s leading drugstore chain with about 1,400 shops in Britain and Ireland, sells OTC drugs in 130 countries. Overall group revenue exceeded $10 Billion in the fiscal year ended March 2005.

EPIEN Medical and Galpharm International Sign UK Distribution Agreement

Minneapolis, Minnesota—EPIEN Medical, Inc., (“EPIEN”) announced today that it has signed an exclusive, three-year, OTC agreement with Galpharm International (“Galpharm”) of South Yorkshire, England. The contract governs the UK distribution of private-labeled oral care products based on EPIEN’s patented HybenX™ technology platform. This unique technology enables the consumer to obtain permanent relief from the pain and irritation of mouth ulcers seconds after applying product from a single-use applicator.

This relationship represents the first time that the HybenX technology, which will be marketed under several branded names, has been made available to consumers as a medical device. Europe has an incidence of mouth ulcers (canker sores) similar to the US with about 20% of the population, or about 75 million people, suffering from the painful lesions on a recurrent basis.

Ray Myers, General Manager of Galpharm International Limited stated, “This is a great opportunity for our Company to be the first distributor in Europe to offer this breakthrough technology to our retailers”. In addition, Reginald Dupre, President of EPIEN Medical, commented, “This is an exciting time for EPIEN Medical shareholders because this agreement represents the first time our products will be introduced directly to consumers. EPIEN Medical Relocates Corporate Headquarters

Northern Research Laboratories Changes Name To EPIEN Medical, Inc.

St. Paul/Minneapolis, MN. January 10, 2005 – Northern Research Laboratories, Inc., a privately held medical products firm announced today that it has changed its name to EPIEN Medical, Inc. EPIEN is a pioneer in the development of novel topical agents for the treatment of common problems associated with epithelial tissues such as the skin and oral mucosa. The Company’s primary objective is to develop proprietary, chemically-based, tissue resurfacing technology that improves the treatment of widespread chronic oral soft tissue and skin disorders. This technology offers a new, simpler, less invasive treatment option for dental and medical clinicians who currently rely solely upon more extensive antibiotic, antiseptic, non-steroidal and steroidal anti-inflammatory, or other drug treatments.
